March 15, 2025
Hey again, folks!
Back in my last ML news update, I shared how we were gearing up for 2025 with optimism. Well, here we are in March, and let me tell you—it’s been a wild ride. Our web design agency has been experiencing some serious growth, and a lot of that is due to one specific agency partnership that has really taken off.
That’s how business works. One relationship at a time. Spikes in business and surprises.
Lessons from the Trenches
I always look for lessons in every twist and turn, and 2024 delivered some major ones—especially around financial management and team-building. Lessons big enough that I know they’ll leave a lasting imprint on me and my businesses for years to come.
Now, in Q1 of 2025, we’ve hit a whole new set of challenges. We had to add and move around resources at a furious pace almost overnight to handle an unexpected workload surge. And, truth be told, I don’t think we have it fully figured out yet. We’re building the plane while flying it—but that’s business, right?
The real lesson here? Growth isn’t just about adding resources. It’s about managing that growth while ensuring that your existing relationships—your long-term clients and partners—aren’t left behind.
The Big Challenge: Balancing Growth Without Neglecting Existing Relationships
This is what’s keeping me up at night. I have relationships with clients and partners that go back years. But this new opportunity? It’s been a massive time-sink, pulling me in every direction as we get the right people on board and stabilize the workload.
Even though I know we’ll find our equilibrium eventually, the short-term? Chaos.
So, How Do You Handle It?
It boils down to one core principle: don’t forget about the people who helped you get here.
Even when you’re in the weeds, you have to check in, keep them updated, and make sure they still feel valued. Will it slow down your new venture a bit? Maybe. But relationships are the real foundation of any business, and the goodwill you’ve built over the years matters.
When I reached out to some long-term clients to explain what was happening, here’s what I heard back:
“Awesome news and excited to see UWD expanding and growing!”
And another:
“Glad things are picking up for your business—that’s always good news! Let me know if you have an estimated timeline for completion.”
That’s the power of honesty and communication. Even if things are moving at breakneck speed, taking the time to keep your partners informed builds trust and keeps those relationships strong.
The Takeaway
No matter how busy you get, no matter how fast you grow—never let your long-term relationships suffer in the process. Or do your best not to. It can get messy. But the best approach is to be honest, communicate, and trust that the people who have been with you will understand.
If you’re in the middle of your own business whirlwind right now, stay strong. Stay focused. Stay hungry.
You got this!
